General Grant to attend “Juleps and Generals” Fundraising event in Holly Springs, MS, at Montrose Mansion

Please join General Grant as he and Generals Buell, Beauregard, Van Dorn and Lee meet and talk with guests at Montrose Mansion in Holly Springs.  They will talk about the War in Mississippi and, in general, and the roles they played.

This is a part of the 78th annual Holly Springs Pilgrimage and tour of homes and is a fundraiser for Montrose Mansion.  It is a majestic antebellum home that is now the home and Headquarters of the Holly Springs Garden Club.

“Juleps and Generals” is the kick-off event for a weekend of re-enacting of General Van Dorn’s December 20th, 1862 raid on Holly Springs that destroyed General Grant’s plans to invade Mississippi by going down the Mississippi Central Railroad and, thus, attack Vicksburg.

It is the only Cavalry raid in the War that stopped and entire Campaign.

General Grant hopes to see you there for good History in a wonderful setting.
