Please join General Grant at the scene of his, and the Union’s, first victory at Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Dover, Tennessee. The General will be there for the several activities planned for the weekend of February 14-16.
On Saturday in the Park, authors Brian Steele Wills and Kendall G. Gott will be giving talks about their books and signing them for those purchasing them. Mr. Gott will be giving a lecture at the Water Batteries about the battle Saturday afternoon. On Sunday afternoon, there will be a bus tour of the battlefield and environs guided by Kendall Gott and Park Volunteer and battlefield authority, James Vaughn, Lt. Col. USA, Ret.
Monday evening, the anniversary of the battle, there will be a Meet-the-Press type panel discussion at the local Methodist church with General Grant, General Buckner, and Kendall Gott to talk about the battle. There will also be a reading of the original sermon delivered at that church in the 1880’s to dedicate stained glass windows that celebrated the battle.
