General Grant will return to Fort Donelson National Battlefield on Monday, February 15th, instant, for the premier of the new film to be shown in the Dover Hotel (Surrender House). The premier will be held at 6:30 pm at the Stewart County (Tennessee) Visitor Center and will feature the new film as well as the original circa 1962 film; the Park’s specially made Education program film; the Park’s current film; The original Dover Hotel film; and the new Dover Hotel film. The General will be joined by General Buckner (Dusty Holder) in the film as well as General Gideon Pillow in the film (Chris Mekow). Author Ken Gott (“Where The South Lost The War”), also featured in the film, will be talking about the significance of the Battle of Fort Donelson.
At 10:00 am, on Tuesday, on the porch of the Dover Hotel, General Grant and General Buckner will talk with each other about their relationship before the War and to the crowd about their roles in the battle of Fort Donelson.
General Grant will be visiting local schools during his Monday-Wednesday visit to the Battlefield area.
The General hopes that all, who may, will come to these events and enjoy History in one of the most critical of locations in the Civil War and how it is being interpreted now.
