“General Grant: The Man Behind the Uniform”
General Grant will discuss his life and tell you who he really was.
He was pictured as a stoic and taciturn man who was a failure and a drunk. Come and listen to General Grant and find out who he really was.
12:30 p.m.
“The Battle of Shiloh”:
Was General Grant Really Surprised? General Grant will address the Corinth Crossroads Campaign and the role of the battle of Shiloh in that campaign. Shiloh was the first major battle of the Civil War.
7:00 p.m.
“General U.S. Grant and General John A. Logan.”
General Grant will discuss his relationship with General John A. Logan from his first command here in Illinois to the White House.
NOTE: This session will be held at the General John A. Logan Museum in Murphysboro, 1613 Edith St.

*The luncheon and breaks will feature a musical duo composed of Joanne Long and Lori Buedel. The duo will add fun and authentic atmosphere to the day with fiddle & banjo tunes of the era. They will include the famous Civil War Theme song from the Ken Burns documentary, “Ashokan Farewell.”
