General Grant and General Lee to Meet Again at Appomattox Court House on April 7th-9th, for the 158th Anniversary of the Surrender

I am pleased to return to Appomattox Court House National Historical Park once again to meet General Lee (Thomas Jessee) and remember the surrender of Lee at that place.

 

 

Appomattox Court House National Historical Park will commemorate the 158th anniversary of General Robert E. Lee’s surrender to Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant and Freedom Day (April 9) with special anniversary programs and activities from April 7-12, 2023.
The commemoration will include guided walks and talks, living history programs and demonstrations, pop-up museum collection display with arts and crafts, and a commemorative one-act play followed by a gospel performance and lighting of luminaries to celebrate emancipation in Appomattox.
